Cooper City Real Estate & Homes for Sale in Florida

Welcome to Cooper CityCooper City is a small residential community in southwest Broward County, Florida. Considered part of the Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area located just west of Davie, 20 miles north of Miami.

Cooper City has been named "Tree City, U.S.A." because of the large number of shade and specimen trees in many neighborhoods. This abundance grew out of the city's concentrated tree planting programs carried out over the years. Cooper City real estate has long been known as an excellent place to "grow families."

Cooper City was founded in 1959 by a self-made businessman, Morris Cooper, through a municipal corporation created by the Special Act of the Florida legislature. Cooper City, Florida stands apart from neighboring cities in a number of positive ways. For starters, Cooper City remains much smaller than many cities in Broward County. This comfortable, small-town feel is accentuated by the prevalence of small and independent businesses and a lower crime rate than neighboring cities.
